the 2020 summer program offers students an unparalleled opportunity to obtain the finest dispute resolution educational experience in substantive theories, exposure to the field's literature, extensive practical skills development, and stimulating dialogue with students and faculty drawn from around the world.

this summer, law students and professionals everywhere can join the "pepperdine experience" in dispute resolution:

  • a faculty of academics and practitioners drawn from around the world
  • the most extensive dispute resolution curriculum in legal education
  • convenient one-week and two-weekend formats
  • study with students and colleagues from around the world
  • each class offered is worth 2 units of credit and all are part of pepperdine's jd curriculum
  • current law or graduate students can use summer courses towards their jd or graduate degree while earning a certificate or masters in dispute resolution (mdr).
  • professionals in various fields can use intensive courses to count towards a certificate, master of dispute resolution (mdr) or master of law (llm), or audit a course for additional training.

important: all straus summer 2020 classes will be taught in online formats. please note that class days and times have been adjusted to better facilitate an online learning environment.

extended format (online)

may 18 - july 24, 2020

  • selected issues in dispute resolution: apology, forgiveness, and reconciliation
    this course will meet wednesdays - 12:00-4:00pm
  • selected issues in dispute resolution: dynamic groups
    this course will meet mondays - 5:00-9:00pm
  • arbitration practice and advocacy
    this course will meet thursdays 11:30am-3:30pm

these courses will meet monday, tuesday, thursday, and friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm. no class on wednesday, may 20th

these courses will meet tuesday and thursday from 5:00-9:00pm and saturdays from 8:30-11:30am and 12:30-3:30pm.

  • psychology of conflict communications

class will meet monday and wednesday from 1:30‐4:30pm.

  • selected issues in dispute resolution: resolving conflicts for system design for organizations and corporations*
    class will meet on tuesday and thursday from 3:00-7:00pm and saturdays from 8:30-11:30am and 12:30-3:30pm.

    class will meet tuesday and thursday from 5:00-9:00pm and saturdays from 8:30-11:30am and 12:30-3:30pm.
